Architectural Tile trim – a designer finishing touch at David Jones new flagship store.
David Jones Sydney flagship store on Elizabeth St was given a luxurious transformation thanks to the use of Amark Group’s architectural tile trims throughout the newly refurbished building.
Completed in 2020, the multi-million dollar renovation was to turn David Jones’ heritage building into one of the world’s most glamorous department stores and continue to be the iconic shopping destination for local and international brands.
Architectural tile trims give a designer finishing touch to a glamorous shopping experience
To fit with the luxe and versatile design of David Jones interiors, a vast range of Amark Group’s tile trims were chosen and installed throughout the new building.
In the main shopping areas, Amark Group’s tile trims in brass finish were chosen to provide additional golden sparkles to David Jones’ luxury product display. Our trims further enhanced the ‘store-in-store’ display concept where many high-end brands create their own little unique space within the store.
Amark Group's ALLTRIM brass movement joints were installed in the stores floor to control expansion and contraction, at the same time they add a decorative finish.
ALLTRIM profiles in matt black finish, the current on-trend interior colour, were also installed throughout the store to further complement its contemporary retro design. These matt black trims are the subtle finishes one can find near the lifts and in the gourmet food court downstairs.
Hundreds of Amark Group ALLTRIM tile trims, in various profiles and finishes, some of them were bespoke and unique to the project, were sent to the Elizabeth St site to give David Jones’ iconic store a designer transformation it deserves.
Major transformation of Sydney’s iconic heritage building.
Since it first opened its door in 1927, David Jones’ Elizabeth St store has become an icon of Sydney’s main CBD shopping district. Overlooking Hyde Park, the store has served shoppers for nearly a century, hosted hundreds of high-profile events and fashion shows and entertained generations of children with their creative Christmas window displays.
However, with the changing of shopping habits and the tough competition from specialty stores and on-line retailers, David Jones was forced to consolidate their two big stores in Sydney CBD into one which prompted the renovation of the Elizabeth St store. David Jones had to remove the top 3 corporate floors to create extra retail space for its men’s department and food hall which used to be located on Market St.
David Jones took the opportunity to totally revamp their heritage building and turned it into a state-of-the-art department store.
